About

Hi, I'm Carmeline.

I'm the psychologist behind Esther Psychology, working with children, adolescents and adults via telehealth across Australia. My work is shaped by the wanting-to-understand. That's exactly where we start.

A lot of the people who reach out arrive with a version of the same question: something feels wrong, and I want to understand why. It might be a child whose behaviour has shifted in ways their parents can't quite explain. It might be an adult who's noticed patterns they keep falling into. Either way, the wanting-to-understand part matters, and it's exactly where we'll start.

I work with children, adolescents and adults, and I'm comfortable holding both the practical side of "what do we do" and the deeper question of "why is this happening."

Sessions with me are warm and curious, and I also keep things real. I'll gently challenge patterns that are keeping you stuck and give you something practical to work with between sessions. Clients often tell me that thread has felt missing in their previous experiences of therapy. I draw primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside elements of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Interpersonal Therapy, shaped to your context rather than applied as a fixed protocol.

Cultural identity is something I hold particular attention to. How culture shapes the way distress is named and expressed, and how families understand and respond to it. I offer sessions in Malay for clients who prefer to work in their first language.
